To secure your place and avoid disapointment it is best to book in advance as soon as possible.
For those wanting a private customized or tailor made safari at least 6 months out from your intended tour departure date, especially through the high season during the months of June July & August, along with Christmas & the New Year. For those wanting to visit the mountain gorilla's a year in advance is preferable to secure your permit which are always in high demand.

WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLES DO YOU USE?

This depends on the type of safari, for the overland tours and the Namibia tour we use Landcruisers which are suitable for the terrain. For the South African tours we use Sprinters. Becasue we only take small groups each vehicle provides plenty of space and in the case of the Cruisers they have a pop top so this can be opened up to allow for good views when in the parks of Eastern Africa.

HOW SAFE IS IT TO TRAVEL IN AFRICA?

Traveling with a tour operator or group lowers the risk significantly. The countries that we travel are quite safe, most people are friendly and want you to enjoy their country. In the cities it is generally safe to get about if you follow reasonable precautions such as: Order a car service or taxi when travelling in and around the city, or take advantage of the many local operators who offer good day tours for reasonable cost. Don't carry large amounts of cash on you. Don't go out alone after dark or if you don't know the area. Try not to be too obvious, keep cameras out of sight, don't wear an external bum bag or wear a day pack, keep jewelery to a minimum. Listen to what the locals have to say and take their advice. Always be aware of your sourroundings and all should be well.

WHAT TYPE OF CURRENCY WILL I NEED ON SAFARI?

The US dollar is the most widely accepted currency throughout Africa and is easily exchanged. There are ATM"s and money exchange facilities throughout the regions we travel through. The South African Rand is also accepted throughout some southern regions, such as Botswana Zimabawe & Namibia. The Euro & pound are also accepted.

WHAT IS THE RISK OF MALARIA?

Malaria is probably the biggest concern when travelling in Africa although the risks are low in the dry season. Consult with your Dr regarding which is the correct malaria prophylaxis for the area you are travelling through while on safari. because the Mosquito is most active in late afternoon, night and early morning always cover up at these times, use a good insect repellent which goes a long way in preventing this disease and use a moquito net if one is available Some areas in Africa are malaria free such as the Eastern cape in South Africa.

I WILL BE TRAVELLING AS A SINGLE WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM?

Many of our travelers are single and are most welcome. As the cost of the safari is based on a twin share basis you would be sharing with a fellow single traveller. Most people enjoy the opportunity of meeting somebody new and sharing their African expereince, if you do specifically require a single room then a single supplement could apply on some safaris.

If you are concerned about flying alone to Africa we will do our best to link you up with others on the same safari.

ARE THESE TOURS SUITABLE FOR OLDER ADULTS?

Very much so, in fact we design our safaris for shorter driving times between venues and in most cases a minimum of two nights stay at each place we visit, being relaxed these safaris are suitable for all age groups. If you do have a serious medical problem we may require a medical certificate from your Dr to travel. If you are flexable and know what to expect we would love to have you along.
