South Africa
Between August and September the arid regions of the west coast of South Afrika &
Namibia come alive with the joys of spring, and the coastal route bursts into a kaleidoscope
of colour when the wildflowers bloom. Whale watching is also a possibility at this time of the
year when females come in close to shore to have their calves, and big males breach further
off shore.
Commencing in the beautiful city of Cape Town, the first part of the journey is spent
meandering along the coastal flower route. Starting at Kirstenbosch Gardens, Cape Town we
will wind our way through sleepy fishing villages checking out places of interest along the
way, before finishing this part of the journey in Namaqualand National Park.
Namibia
Crossing over the Orange River into Namibia, this is a country which offers some of the most
remote, spectacular and vast landscapes in the world - landscapes which support an
incredible array of wildlife and many diverse and fascinating cultures. Cuisine is excellent
and seafood lovers will not be disappointed. Travelling from the south to the very north gives
great opportunity to visit some of the lesser-know areas, as well as the chance to see desert
elephants! Ending in the clean, green city of Windhoek, there will be plenty of time for some
last-minute shopping and opportunity to explore the local markets, before travelling on.
