Our guide Louis a walking encyclopaedia, and so capable not only as a guide, but cook, giving great care to detail which was exceptional.

You would think each day couldn't get better but each day a new and interesting experience seeing all the animals.  Just wonderful. The accommodation excellent as were the guides and the food and its presentation very good.

I had the privilege of being on the first Kruger To The Cape tour. It was outstanding. A very knowledgeable and funny guide/driver/cook in Chris. Nearly 2 weeks in Kruger NP was a brilliant start. Wildlife was abundant. Other highlights were Addo Elephant Park, sleeping in a cave, seeing the penguin colony at Bettys Bay, an optional zip-lining experience in Storms River, a sunset sailing experience in Knysna and exploring Cape Town. This was my second trip with Masihambe Afrika and I’m already planning my third! I cannot recommend this tour or the company highly enough. Karen

We had the privilege of traveling the Wildlife and Namibia tours back to back last year....without doubt fabulous (and heartening to see a lot of the babies we saw, must have survived for the tours this year). If you are considering these tours and are concerned about accommodations, please don’t be, Jude and the team have done an awesome job scouting out amazing places to bed weary heads after amazing days. Tip: if you are overly fixated with Wi-Fi, you will likely be disappointed, it’s there ‘most’ places, but can be slow. There’s definitely enough you can contact people at home, but that is not why you are there, be mesmerized by what is in front of you. Just do it.

A wonderful wildlife experience
The safari tour was wonderful meeting all our expectations John our guide was brilliant . He had an amazing knowledge of the wildlife which he was very happy to share with us . He was also very friendly and pleasant. He was most accommodating with everyone and did his utmost to satisfy everyone The accommodation that had been organised was on the whole excellent and couldn't be faulted.

A wonderful wildlife experience
From day one I was impressed with Mashihambe. All the reviews I read were actually true from Jude's regular, informative emails to Ant's legendary culinary skills! The main attraction, Africa, in all its shades did not disappoint. The landscape, the wildlife, the trees, the people were wonderful and 26 days passed all too quickly. The tour was designed to experience different aspects of Southern Africa and every day brought new animals, new landscapes and new experiences. The accommodation was varied and always comfortable. From guest houses like home to unique resorts and cabins, everywhere we went we were met by smiling faces, soft beds and hot showers, no mean feat in the middle of the Kalahari, miles from anywhere! The focus being wildlife, we spent hardly any time in towns and had opportunities every day do go on long game drives looking for animals. I never tired of it! Ant has had long years of experience and could answer every curly question I threw at him. He has an unquenched enthusiasm for everything African and his love of it all was highly infectious! And when I left my passport in a safe and didn't notice for 3 days, he seemed to know everyone in Botswana to get it back to me safe and sound.

The Pearl of Africa lived up to its name with an amazing tour.
I travelled to Namibia with this company in August and was so impressed with all aspects of Masihambe Afrika I went back a few weeks later as they had a cancellation on their Uganda tour. There were just six of us and our awesome, knowledgeable guide, Ant. Part of this tour was camping (and putting up our own tents) in remote places with few if any other people around. Ant is a great cook and story teller and we loved sitting around the campfire sharing stories at night. Uganda exceeded my expectations. The gorilla trek just amazing as was the chimp trek. There are just 36 white rhino in Uganda and 34 in the reserve where we stayed and walked with them. The Nile river was clean and teaming with wildlife as was the delta. The people, especially the children, are friendly and happy. I would highly recommend Masihambe Afrika. Would not go to Africa with anyone else and have now booked my third trip with them to Botswana next year.

Masihambe Afrika was well organised from The start.. This was our first trip to Africa travelling through South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Ant Washford, our guide did a fantastic job of organising us all, sharing lots of knowledge about all the animals we encountered and using his culinary skills to keep us well fed. The varied accommodation was great. We would totally recommend booking with Masihambe Afrika.

This Safari tour is highly recommend and tops for value for money.
From the time I first got in touch with Jude at Masihambe there was communication whenever I needed information and or even to tell her I had started my countdown at -6months. Then all the communication and help with the visas was great as we were going two weeks prior to the Safari. Once we were picked up by Anthony we were living the dream. All lodgings, camps, tours and excursions was taken care of. Every type of accommodation was a wow factor and all the time the question was asked “how did you find this place?" Excellent food whether in fabulous lodges or over wood fires (3 course meals!!!) and our needs attended to by friendly helpful staff, cooks, and guides? Our main guide through the trip was Anthony - amazing knowledgeable person in all things Africa from wildlife to flora and fauna, border diplomacy and crossing to head chef, looking after our group of eight between 60-75 year olds. Such a great sense of humour and stories to tell while round the camp fire. He and all the guides amazed us at their ability to spot game in long grass that none of us could see, to leopards and snakes up trees, so well camouflaged. Without the guides I am sure we would have missed half of the big five and the smaller creatures and birds that no-one knew of before the trip.

The tour far exceeded all expectations in regard to every aspect - organisation, accommodation, food, wild life experiences, and the knowledge and skill of Ants, our guide/driver.
Having seen the Big 5 on our 1st day in Kruger, which was only the 2nd day of our 25 day tour, I’d have been quite happy to have gone home after that. Then I had so many more days when I kept saying, “I can go home now”. The animals we sighted and how close we got to them, was way beyond what I thought would be possible. Had I leant over out of the vehicle I could have patted a huge male lion as he walked by! All within the group were able to get within 10m of White Rhinos. My prime purpose for going, was to photograph the animals and birds, and I’ve returned with 3,000+ photos. I’m more than delighted with hundreds of these. Would I go again? - YES. Would I recommend this tour to others? – YES..

Everything about this tour was excellent.

When I mentioned to family and friends I was off to Uganda, I was greeted by a look of surprise and the questions – Why? Where is it?
I’m off to see the Gorillas and Chimps was my reply, it’s always been a dream of mine, so now is the time to tick another wish off my bucket list. What an amazing country, the scenery, the people, the animals, also to my surprise the wonderful assortment of birds and butterflies – just amazing! Masihambe Afrika have put together a great safari that I highly recommend from start to finish. So many highlights and so many wonderful memories. PS: I now consider myself an expert at putting up tents and cooking over an open fire.

Organisation was excellent from the time we stepped off the plane in Johanesburg until we departed on our way home. Arrangements in Madagascar were everything we could hope for with every little detail attended to by our wonderful tour guide Anthony. This tour is more of an adventure trip and requires a certain amount of fitness but all aspects are adequately covered and at no time did we feel that we were not able to cope with the demands of the tour. The wildlife and scenery were spectacular and we were made to feel like family

Wow- A trip of a lifetime. Watching the wildlife in their natural surroundings was the stuff of dreams. Our guide, Anthony was the best by far . This trip was the highlight of all our holidays it outshone everything we have ever done before

Our expectations' regarding Africa, with accommodation, food, wildlife etc were surpassed beyond anything we dreamed of.The standout experince for accommodation was the four nights camping in the bush.

And this pretty much perfectly sums the trip up. A small group of like minded people made this a truly memorable trip. There was good mix of pretty basic camping, and then Lodge/Bungalows for those days when we had trekked - which came as a very welcome reward. The highlight had to be the hour with the Gorillas, this can be a hard trek but sooooo worth it. Once again Ant was our guide and his knowledge, passion and enthusiasm made this one of the most awesome trips I have done. Thinking about booking a Masihambe trip? - stop thinking and start booking you won't regret it.

The best holiday I have ever had An excellent trip with top accommodation, food and transport, along with great game viewing. This was my fourth trip with Masihambe Afrika and I wasn't disapointed, Jude and Ant thanks for the memories. An absolutley fantastic trip and a laugh a minute! From the game parks to the quirky little towns and villages, thanks for the little detours you made along the way to get us off the beaten track, the gorgous coastline and whales the mountains, bush and forests South Africa is a beautiful country with very freindly people. Thanks For a Memorable Holiday
Following our amazing holiday to Africa which Masihambe arranged, I can now understand how people get so passionate about Africa.
I travelled with friends who had worked with Jude on establishing the itinerary which took us to seven African countries.
Activities included climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, wildlife safaris, resting on the beach on Zanzibar Island, visiting the gorillas in Uganda and being a tourist at Victoria Falls. We had no "hiccups" , every transfer went as arranged and some planes even flew ahead of schedule.
A truly memorable holiday I will remember for the rest of my life

This was my second safari with this company and what an itinerary! The mobile camping was a wonderful experience giving lots of time for game viewing and the guides had excellent knowledge, there was always plenty of tasty food available and nothing was ever any trouble. Accommodation was varied and comfortable. A great safari that has been planned well with lots of attention to detail. Masihambe Afrika made this safari a truly once in a lifetime expereince.

We are almost home. Have enjoyed Namibia’s isolation & stark but spectacular scenery. However the roads & dust are another story. Once we reached The Etosha Park it was fantastic for animal life. In a day & a half we saw 20 lions ( 2 of the prides were feasting on their kills ) 2 cheetahs ( also enjoying their kill ) a leopard relaxing in a tree, & numerous rhinos ( both black & white ) giraffes & zebras many of whom had their young with them & of course elephants. We also visited the Cheetah Conservation Fund Area. Thanks to our guide, Chris.& our travelling friends for their companionship through the heat & dust.

Communication was great. As far as expectations, didn't know what to expect but was absolutely blown away. Loved every aspect of the safari, from our tour guide Ant, to the local guides in Zimbabwe & Botswana.

The four week tour started in Johannesburg then went north through Kruger to the Matapos Hills in Zimbabwe, north to Victoria Falls then across to Botswana. We went south through Chobe NP to Moan then up to the Okavango Delta then flew in a small plane over the Delta back to Moan. We went East to the Tulie Game Reserve then made the long drive back to South Africa & to Johannesburg. It was a spectacular itinerary and we saw everything we hoped to see. Our Safari Guide, Anthony Waterford, was exceptional. He combined encyclopaedic knowledge with deep experience, a strong sense of care, and effective leadership. He was a very pleasant companion who has endless stories to tell. I haven’t experienced a better tour leader. Communication with Masihambe was good, the vehicles were adequate, and the accommodation was interesting and comfortable. This tour is for people who can pitch in and help with cooking, and who are adaptable when plans change suddenly, or things go wrong.

Give Masihambe Afrika a try... you’ll love it.
It’s hard to stop raving about how amazing Uganda is. We’ve just come out of three days camping in 2 wonderful campsites. Hippos across the river on a Congo beach then wandering through our camp at night. Awesome game drives and awesome boat ride out on the channel between the Edward and George lakes with wine and snacks and hundreds of animals and birds... hippo, water buffalo, crocodiles, elephant etc... The water was mirror glass and we had our own private boat... very special. Passed village of people who live in the park swimming and doing there washing and then the fishermen heading out for their evening fish. Camp fires and sitting under the evening stars. I Like that Masihambe Africa provides a no frills authentic trip with a great, very experienced bushman guide in Anthony. Travelling through Uganda offered lots of variety in accommodation from tents to simple lodges and great experiences of the culture, food, geography and wildlife.

This was truly a trip to remember!
We lucky four had the experience of a lifetime. On 18th June we met the other 4 members of our group - we were 6 Kiwis and 2 Americans. Then it was off "Ant"our guide was a motorist, a chef, a raconteur, and a passionate and knowledgeable lover of African game and bush. I cannot believe any guide could be better, and he really made the trip exceptional. Our 26 day trip took us through Kruger National Park, then across to Mapungubwe. After that we entered Zim and enjoyed Matopos, Hwange and Vic Falls. Then we entered Botswana, Africa’s secret, We re-entered South Africa with 3 days to go, spending our time in Tuli game reserve. We saw all types of wild animals and wilderness, and all in fine weather. The Safari company was brilliant providing the 8 of us tourists with all manner of comforts and fine food even in the middle of nowhere!

This trip was our second. Everything about this company is above expectations.
The tour guide is one in a million, the tour owner is exceptional, both their knowledge about the trips and the safari tours is out of this world. We saw everything that we thought we would see, the accommodation was above standard the travel was tops. Highly recommend to others. We are now planning another trip.

It was a good balance between game drive and other experiences.
It is a beautiful country and the landscape is amazing from the Atlantic to the largest sand dunes in the world, to the wildlife to the ilderness. All was run very professionally and the accommodation was in the majority 5 star experience. The safari lived up to and went further than our expectations.

Overall, very good value for money.
Overall the organisation of the safari was very good particularly with the short time frame as we took a cancellation. We thought the tour leader was exceptionally good and knowledgeable. The game parks visited were varied and we saw a very wide range of animals. Accommodation, including tented camps were very good and being older we appreciated the individual facilities. Not being used to tipping we found choosing the appropriate level difficult. The only slight disappointment was the time at the Okavango Delta, which, although interesting, was not as exceptional for wildlife as we had expected from its reputation.

Amazing experiences seeing the wildlife in their natural environments

Triple A and 5 star + rating is not enough praise for Jude and her company Masihambe Afrika, and the magnificent tour that we participated on this year. From the moment we made our first enquiries Jude was friendly and informative. The trip was one highlight after another with many extras included, Accommodation varied from glamping in Botswana to high end chalets. Meals and food were plentiful, with fresh produce and mostly catered from a mix of local restaraunts, to picnic lunches.
Ant our guide.was great, nothing too much trouble. His patience, knowledge exceptional wit, story telling and problem solving skills made the groups time together an absolute delight. Some highlights, Rhino trekking that bought us up close and personel to these magnificent animals. Pundu a Matabele cheif and his family, sunset over the Okavango Delta as two juvenile elephants played in the water, spending time with a magnificent Leopard in the early morning light, haveing a hyena walk thru our camp checking things out as we sang around the camp fire. The list could go on and on.....I hope the people that read this get a small idea of the amazing adventures that Jude offers. Personally we are already in the throws of rebooking with Masihambe Afrika for our next life changing expereince that Africa has to offer.

A Fabulous Trip

Absolutley fabulous trip! WE have done a previous Masihambe Afrika Tour and loved it so much we had to do another, thinking it could not surpass the expereince of the first trip. Well it really did - The "Wildlife & Game Parks Safari" was nothing short of brilliant - the wildlife (which we were spoilt & saw so much of), the magnificent landscapes, beautiful breath-taking sunsets & stars, the knowledge shared by our experienced guide, the sundowners at night and the peace and tranquility of such an incredible country. The magic of Africa will always remain - with fond memories for both of us.

A 25 day wild life safari which allowed us to experience the major game reserves of 3 different countries - South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
An experienced guide allowed us to see extensive bird and animal life. His local knowledge and his 22 years of guiding experience ensured thet we missed out on very little. The Big 5 were ticked off early on and other species including over 200 different birds and over 50 mammals followed as time progressed. Some game was seen for the first time on the last day. So there was always something to see and chat about around the camp fire in the evenings.
The landscapes and environments was also continually changing throughout the trip. This tour meet all promised criteria in accommodation, food, side trips and travel locations.
A fantastic safari which we will recommend to our friends with similar interests.

We had a wonderful time on our 25-Day Wild Life and Game Parks safari. There has been a lot of thought put into the itinerary resulting in each day being a new experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, capable and fun to be with. Most of all we enjoyed the days where we stayed in the parks and had a braai in the evening with everybody chilling together. We saw every animal possible except a Cheetah and got up close and personal with elephants, lions and rhinos. Thank you for organising such an amazing adventure. If you are thinking about going - STOP thinking and DO IT.

This was a trip of a lifetime, prepared and guided by experts with a strong passion for Africa and Madagascar. we went on both the Madagascar Trek and the Wildlife & Game Parks safari. both in thier own right were superbly managed by master guide Ant and organiser Jude. We will never forget these expereinces and at the end wanted to turn around and repeat the trip we enjoyed it so much, way above our expectations. The wild life, the rain forests and in treks in Madagascar - highly recommended.
The South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana safari would be the most memorable countries we have been to.

Masihambe Afrika organised everthing from Johannesburg to Kruger National Park. Everything went smoothly from the accommodation in Johannesburg who kindly stored our lugage while away on safari and delivering this back to us at the airport on return. We selected Jude bacause she has lived in Africa for many years, knows it well, and has many local contacts, this knowledge made planning easy. She and Anna put together a customised and complicated itinerary which included Kilimajaro, Gorillas in Uganda, Tanzania and Zanzibar Island, Botswana in Southern Africa which finished in Victoria Falls. The many flights and connections went to plan, the accommodation was as requested and tour operators were very good. The personalised service provided by Jude was excellent and I can recomend anyone looking to holiday in Africa to use Masihambe Afrika

I have wanted to go on an African safari for a long time and am really pleased we chose Masihambe Afrika. Our guide was excellent, very knowledgable, helpful & friendly. This tour is great value for money with a variety of accommodation from tents to luxury lodges, good food, good company and great animal viewing which exceeded all our expectations.
